Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Sunday that negotiations for the proposed comprehensive free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union (EU) are moving fast and may be decided before the end of the year. Goyal told reporters here, “We have some concerns about the methods and rules of the European Union, similarly there are some cases that he would like to discuss.” All issues are in front and we will interact on a fair, balanced and equitable FTA.
Goyal has come here on a two -day visit. He will meet French leaders and business representatives to promote trade and investment between the two countries. When asked about the expected time limit for the concluding time of talks on the FTA, he said, “We never had any deadline for the FTA, but we (India and the European Union) are moving forward, seeing that I believe that we can complete it before the end of the year.”
