Team India captain Shubman Gill has given updates on the injury of vice -captain Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant was hurt while wicketkeeping on the first day of Lord’s Test. Due to which he could not do wicketkeeping. Due to Pant’s not being able to take wicketkeeping, Dhruv Jurle took the responsibility of wicketkeeping in the remaining match.
In the press conference after the match, Indian captain Shubman Gill said that, the injury to Rishabh Pant in the finger is not very serious. Shubman Gill told that Rishabh has gone for a scan. There is no major injury, so he will recover till the fourth Test in Manchester. The fourth Test match is to be played from 23 to 27 July at the Old Trafford ground in the manchest. During the first innings of England at Lord’s, Jasprit Bumrah suffered an injury to Pant’s left -handed index finger while trying to catch the ball.
Pant diverted his left side to stop the ball of Jasprit Bumrah from the 34th over of the innings during the second session on the first day of the third Test. After this he was groaning in pain. Rishabh Pant managed to put his hand on the ball, but could not stop it completely. After this, the game stayed for some time.
The Indian colleague staff got Pant’s hand treated, but when the game started again, the wicketkeeper shook his hands. Pant went out of the ground after Bumrah’s over was over.
Later on behalf of the BCCI, it was said that Pant’s left index finger suffered an injury. He is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of the medical team. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurlel is doing wicketkeeping.
