Akali Dal leader Bunty Romana talking in Faridkot
In Faridkot, senior leader and former general secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal Paramabans Singh Bunty Romana has opposed the proposal to increase the number of parliamentary constituencies across the country by delimiting on the basis of population. He started with many states including Punjab
.
SAD leader Bunty Romana said today (Sunday) that under the proposal to increase the number of parliamentary constituencies, preparations are being made to increase the number of Lok Sabha constituencies across the country from 543 to 848. In this, the parliamentary constituencies in many states will grow from 80 to 100, while many states will not have any significant benefit in growing the region. In such a situation, the voice of the people of these states will remain buried in Parliament.
Bunty Romana said that there are 13 parliamentary constituencies in Punjab, which are proposed to be 18. Punjab accounts for only 2.39 percent in Parliament with the current 543 regions and Punjab will be 2.11 percent if there is 848 areas.

SAD leader Rona said that this proposal has been prepared under a conspiracy, so that the number of parliamentary constituencies in the BJP’s influence states will increase and they can benefit in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to the new proposal, the number of parliamentary constituencies in Punjab is being increased from 13 to 18, 10 areas of Haryana are also being increased to 18. Apart from this, the parliamentary constituency in UP is 80 to 143, 40 to 76 in Bihar, 25 to 50 in Rajasthan, 29 to 52 in Madhya Pradesh and the number of parliamentary constituencies in Delhi is being increased from 7 to 12. He called upon the opposing parties to unite to surround the central government on this issue.
Let me tell you that a day earlier on this issue, the Chief Minister of the state Bhagwant Mann, besides SAD executive president Balwinder Singh Bhundad and former minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, also attended the meeting of opposition parties in Tamil Nadu.
