An encounter took place between police and criminals on the Derabassi-Ambala highway in Mohali on Wednesday afternoon. The police had received information that some criminals were planning a major incident. On receiving the information, the police cordoned off the area and the accused opened fire on the police team.
It is being told that the shooters of the named gangster opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the police also opened fire, in which two criminals were injured. During this operation, the police arrested four miscreants. The injured accused have been admitted to Derabassi Hospital. The police have recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition from the accused. Police will soon share complete information.
Forensic investigation of the recovered weapons has been started. Police suspect that other criminals may also be involved. The police are conducting raids in the area to look for other associates of the gang. Senior officials visited the spot and praised the prompt action of the local police team.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav posted this information on X. They wrote that an encounter took place between the police and Goldie Dhillon, who is associated with the reputed gang, near Steel Strips Towers on the Derabsi-Ambala highway this afternoon. The gang member was hiding in a house near the highway. When the police were conducting a search operation, he opened fire on the police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang was operating under the direction of its handlers based abroad and was planning targeted attacks in the Tricity and Patiala areas. Seven (.32 bore) pistols and 70 cartridges have been recovered from the gangster.
