Imran Khan is being kept in solitary imprisonment for 22 hours per day: party claims

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is being kept in a secluded imprisonment at least 22 hours per day in a gross violation of jail rules and human rights. His party claimed this on Wednesday.

72 -year -old Khan, who came to politics from a cricketer, has been in jail since August 2023. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and former Union Minister Moonis Ilahi said in a statement here, PTI Chief Conservator and former Prime Minister Imran Khan is being kept in at least 22 hours of solitary imprisonment and his movement has been banned.

Moonis said that Khan is not getting enough food and medical care, and there are also worrying news of his weight loss significantly. He demanded that this gross violation of his fundamental rights should be resolved by the concerned authorities.

Another PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari said that Khan is being kept in solitary imprisonment for 22-23 hours per day, which is a severe violation of all jail rules and human rights.

Bukhari said that the former Prime Minister has lost weight and this level of inhuman behavior with him is unacceptable and illegal. He demanded, we should raise our voice and demand immediate action. Their private doctors should be allowed to investigate without delay.
