Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, referring to Defense Minister Khwaja Asif’s remarks in the country on Wednesday, said that Pakistan at this time has “full military rule and dictatorship, not hybrid system”.
The criticism of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Khan came at a time when some PTI leaders said that the Defense Minister has admitted that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is “puppet rule”.
Reacting to Asif’s statement in the post from the jailed Khan’s official ‘X’ account, it said, “There is no ‘hybrid system’ in Pakistan at this time. What we are seeing is complete military rule and dictatorship. ”
The post referring to Munir’s meeting with Trump on June 18 in the ‘White House’ (office of the US President’s office and official residence), saying, “A clear example of military rule in Pakistan is that US President Donald Trump (Prime Minister) Shahbaz Sharif or (President) Asif Ali Zardari chose to meet General Aseem Munir instead of Asif Ali Zardari, because he also knows that all the strengths are near.”
Posted from the ‘X’ account of Khan, who was jailed since August 2023, said, “So I have always said that the conversation should be with those who have real rights.”
The Defense Minister had said on June 20 that the country is being ruled under the “hybrid model”, in which the army has a large part of power. Asif is the president of the ruling PML-N and a close aide of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
