Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi has said that the strategic Indian Ocean Region (IOR) is currently witnessing the “confluence of influences”, and in such a situation the need for collective management and stability is the greatest demand of time.
An official said on Thursday that Naval Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi expressed the Navy’s perspective to the Indian Ocean region while addressing the 12th ‘Galle Dialogue International Meritime Conference’ held in Colombo.
He said that cooperation, partnership and coordination should be given priority in this region. The Navy Chief was on a four -day official visit to Sri Lanka from 22 to 25 September.
The Navy said in a post on ‘X’, “Speaking about abundant resources, trading trading, diverse coastal areas, complex geography, many obstruction points and increasing number of natural disasters, the Navy chief highlighted that this area is becoming a witness to the confluence of influences, and there is a demand for mass management and stability time.”
The Navy Chief also highlighted the need for inter-governing systems and inclusive maritime field awareness to improve initial warning and coordinated response.
