Amritsar Police has taken action against drug smuggling in Maqboolpura. Police demolished the illegal assets of drug smuggler Gurmeet Singh. There are three cases registered against the accused under the NDPS Act and one case is registered in Mohali. He is currently in jail.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that action is going on under the ‘War on Drugs’ campaign of the Punjab government. It is working on prevention, enforcement and rehabilitation. Action is being taken by identifying the hot spots of drugs in the district. Drug -free youth are being trained for self -employment.

237 drug smuggler arrested

In March, the Commissionerate Police has registered 125 FIRs under NDPS. 237 drug traffickers have been arrested. Police seized 36.36 kg of heroin, 2.179 kg opium. Apart from this, drug money and 18 vehicles worth Rs 10.50 lakh have also been seized. These include 5 four wheelers and 13 two wheelers.

Police sought cooperation from people

The police commissioner has sought people’s cooperation against drug smugglers. He said that the identity of those who give information will be kept confidential. During this action, DCP law and order Vijay Alam Singh and SP Harpal Singh were also present.
