Recognition of historical temple
According to temple expert Anil Bhardwaj, this temple was built by the Pandavas. It is believed that the Pandavas tried to build their ladder to heaven here during their exile. However, he could not succeed in making it, because he had to build these stairs in one night. 40 stairs leading to heaven are still present in this temple. At the same time, some people talk about this temple being built by the local king.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva
According to Bhardwaj, idols of Sheshnag, Lord Vishnu are installed in these temples and the idol of Lord Shiva is installed in a main temple in the middle. Some consider it dedicated to Lord Vishnu, but looking at the style and texture of the temple, it has been considered as a Shiva temple. A few years back, the local people have re-established a Shivling in the temple. The stones used in the temple, there are artifacts of Lord Vishnu, Shesh Nag and Goddesses etc. on the rocks. This temple is made of powerful stone named Ba Thu.

best time to visit temple
If you want to visit Bathu Temple then the time from April to June is good. For the rest of the month, this temple remains submerged in water. Only its upper part is visible. For 43 years after the construction of the dam, this temple has been taking Jal Samadhi. This temple can be reached only by boat. There is also a guest house of the Forest Department here. The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport of Dharamshala. Taxis can be hired from Kangra to Jawali or Dhameta village.
