Former MP from Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh apologized after making objectionable remarks against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, after a ruckus over his statement. Accepting his mistake, Singh said that some words went out inadvertently and sorry for his statement. Singh said that I believe that my statement was wrong. Some words came out of my mouth that I should not speak. Later I realized that I should not have said so.

Now he has clarified that his intention was not to insult, but Ramdev was to remind him of the promises made by him about the development of Maharishi Patanjali’s birthplace in Gonda. Singh further said that during the Lok Sabha elections, I had given a statement after which Acharya Balakrishna Bhatt called me a fool. I also retaliated and then the matter went ahead. Later, while stating the history of Gonda, Balrampur and Devipatan Mandal, I remembered that Baba Ramdev once promised to develop the birthplace of Maharishi Patanjali. Some words went out when she remembered that thing.

The former MP further said that since childhood, his principle has been not to insult anyone and apologize for a mistake is not a shame. He said that his comment was a mistake and his sole purpose was to highlight the incomplete promise. Singh had earlier criticized Ramdev in 2022 alleging that he was misusing Maharishi Patanjali’s name for business, earning billions by selling products ranging from spices to juice without contributing to the development of Patanjali’s birthplace.
