26 people died in a terrorist attack on 22 April in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. It also included Shailesh Kalathiya of Surat. The Shailesh reached Pahalgam for a holiday with the family. Shailesh’s wife and son-daughter survived safely in the terrorist attack. Dainik Bhaskar spoke to Shaileshbhai’s wife Sheetalbane, in which he told the shocking story of the attack.
In the words of Coldbane … We were having breakfast there. Other tourists were also with us. Then suddenly the sound of bullets was heard. So we asked the stall owner how this noise is, but he did not even know. We looked around in fear and ran to hide. But by the time we hiding, the terrorists came in front of us.
A terrorist standing in front of the weapon said- ‘Those who are Hindus come on one side and Muslims should stand on the other side. Then he asked the Muslims to read Kalma and talked to them. He then roasted the Hindu brothers with bullets. My husband was standing in front of me and he fell on my lap as soon as he was shot. I hid both my children behind my back.
However, they did not kill women and children. The terrorists wore green cloak and a hat on their heads. He had a long beard. They stood there until the injured died. After this they all escaped. There were many dead bodies in front of our eyes. Meanwhile, the local people asked us to go down with your children. To save the lives of the children, I immediately came down with them.
Union Minister CR Patil also attended Shailesh’s funeral on Thursday. During this, Sheetbane lashed him fiercely over security arrangements in Kashmir.
I am sad that we went there Sheeben Kalathia, who lost her husband in a terrorist attack, has suddenly had the responsibility of raising two children. After this incident she says- I am sad why we went there? If we had known that there is no security there, then we would not go there.
Kalathia couple reached Kashmir on the 18th with their children Shailesh Kalathia, originally a resident of Surat and living in Mumbai, reached Kashmir from Mumbai on 18 April with wife Sheetalbane and two children. After reaching there, family members spent four days traveling to several places including Srinagar, Sonamarg, Gulmarg and reached Pahalgam on 22nd. Meanwhile, there was a terrorist attack and 27 people including Shaileshbhai were killed.

There is no such thing as Hindu-Muslim in Kashmir The driver of the taxi we were traveling in Kashmir was Muslim. The hotel in which we stayed was also of Muslims. Everyone’s behavior was very good for us. Local people also helped us. At the same time, there is no such thing as Hindu-Muslim. I am surprised that there was not a single police or army soldier there. That is why I want to say that security arrangements should be made there or that place should be closed for tourists.

Shailesh Kalathia’s son Naksh stated the situation of the time of the attack and said that Kashmir is very good. We were going there riding on a horse. Ten minutes later the terrorists came and we all hid, but the terrorists found us. We saw two terrorists. He said that those who are Hindus should separate and those who are Muslims should separate. Then he asked to read Kalma.
He left Muslims and shot those who were Hindus. Then they left. We were all asked to run away. I was placed on a horse and my sister and mother walked on foot. At one time it seemed that our death is certain. My mother did not want to leave my father, but because of us she had to come with us. We were 20-30 people at the time of the incident. The army came after some time.

Kajben was left by the terrorists, a group of 20 people from Bhavnagar went to Jammu and Kashmir, which included Yatishbhai Parmar living in Kaliyabida area of Bhavnagar, his wife Kazalben and son Smit Yatishbhai. The terrorists left Kazalben, while her husband and son were shot. 45 -year -old Yatishbhai Parmar, a resident of Bhavnagar, used to run a hair salon in Kaliabid area. Whereas, his 17 -year -old son Smit was a student of class 11.
In the words of his cousin meaningful traveling with this family … The meaningful Naithani, who was present on the spot at the time of the attack, said that we were walking there, then the sound of bullets was heard. My relative Yatishbhai and his son Smit could not run away from there. The terrorists came in front of them and stood up and shot both. I was about 10 feet away from there. I hid behind the wall. There were 300–400 people, but not a single soldier. The army arrived half an hour later. When we got down, we met the army.
