A person agitating in Mumbai died of a heart attack, after which hundreds of people gathered here in Latur district to mourn in his village in Latur district.
The body of the deceased protesting was brought from Mumbai to his village. Vijaykumar Chandrakant Ghogre Azad, a resident of Takalgaon, went to Mumbai with a group of 40 people to participate in the reservation movement under the leadership of activist Manoj Jarange at the ground.
Ghogre complained of chest pain while walking on Saturday in Paidhony area of South Mumbai, after which he was immediately rushed to the hospital. According to officials, doctors declared Ghogre dead.
Officials said that when the body of Ghogre was being taken to his ancestral village for the last rites, a large group of Maratha community stopped the vehicle in Ahmedpur and paid tribute to him.
The bereaved people demanded the government to pay attention to the pending issues of Maratha reservation and untimely demise of Ghogre. Tehsildar Ujjwala Pangarkar of Ahmedpur met the bereaved people and assured them that a member of Ghogre’s family would be recommended to provide financial assistance to the government job and family.
