The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) released the 2025 Human Development Report (HDR) on Tuesday (May 6). In this report, India’s ranking 3 places has improved. Now India has reached 130th in 193 countries.
According to the report, between 2022 and 2023, India ranked from 133 to 130. But due to inequality, India does not improve the ranking due to declining HDi by 30.7%.
This is the highest in Personant Asia. Although inequality in health and education has decreased, income and gender icity are still a matter of concern.

- The HDi value increased from 0.676 to 0.685. India is still in the Medium Human Development category but has reached close to the limit of High Human Development (HDi = 0.700).
- The average age in India has increased from 71.7 years to 72.0 years, which is the highest ever.
- There was no significant difference between the expected schooling age (12.96 to 12.95).
- Education has improved due to schemes like Right to Education Act, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, and National Education Policy 2020. But there is a need to improve quality and learning outkams.
- India’s Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) has increased from USD 8475.68 to USD 9046.76.

Human development index increased 53% since 1990 According to the report, India’s HDi value has increased by more than 53% since 1990, which is faster than global and average in South Asia. This was possible due to economic development and social scheme.
In 1990, the age and age was 58.6 years, which has now been 72 years. Programs like National Rural Health Mission, Ayushman Bharat, Janani Suraksha Yojana, and Nutrition Campaign have played an important role in this.
The country’s per capita income increased four times since 1990 India’s per capita on the economic front was USD 2167.22 in 1990, which increased to USD 9046.76 in 2023. That is, more than four times the increase.
The report said that schemes like MGNREGA, Jan Dhan Yojana, and Digital Inclusion have helped in reducing poverty. Between 2015-16 and 2019-21, 13.5 crore people came out of poverty.
AI Skill Pentation is the highest in India According to the report, India has the highest AI skills painting and now 20% of Indian AI researchers are staying in the country, while in 2019 the number was almost zero.
AI is being used in many fields from agriculture to health. According to UNDP survey, 70% of people believe that AI will increase productivity, and 64% believe it will bring new employment opportunities, especially for the youth.
