A Delhi court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Tawwur Hussain Rana, accused of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, till 13 August. Special Judge Chander Jeet Singh passed the order. Rana was produced in court through a video conference after Rana’s period of judicial custody ended. Rana is a close aide of David Coleman Headley alias Dawood Gilani, the main conspirator of the 26/11 attacks. On November 26, 2008, a group of 10 Pakistani terrorists created a ruckus in India’s financial capital Mumbai. Lashkar-e-Taiba militants entered the metropolis by sea route to a railway station, two luxurious hotels and a Jewish center. 166 people were killed in this attack which lasted about 60 hours.
The case is related to criminal conspiracy by other members of terrorist organizations such as David Coleman Headley, Tawwur Hussain Rana and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) and Harkat-ul-Jihad-Al-Islami (Huji) to carry out terrorist attacks by other members of terrorist organizations to carry out terrorist attacks in various parts of India.
What has the NIA included in the supplementary charge sheet?
The supplementary charge sheet includes the documents related to Rana’s extradition and additional evidence collected by the NIA since the original charge sheet was filed in 2011. The agency said in a statement, “The supplementary charge sheet is related to documents related to the extradition of accused Tawwur Hussain Rana and additional evidence collected by NIA.” In compliance with the court’s order of June 6, the NIA has also submitted a compliance report under Section 207 of the Criminal Procedure (CRPC) regarding the supply of relevant documents related to the earlier charge sheet filed in 2011.
Tahwwur Rana’s judicial custody extended till 13 August
