The Delhi High Court said that the allocation of government houses should be according to a fair and transparent system and it should not depend on the arbitrariness of the authorities. The court made this remark during a hearing on the Aam Aadmi Party’s petition seeking a residential housing in the capital for the party’s national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. While hearing the case, Justice Sachin Dutta said that there should be a transparent system and it cannot be completely dependent on your arbitrariness. As long as a clear and clear policy exists. I want to know how priority is assessed.

The judge further said that this issue is not only about one allocation, but of the widespread question of how discretion is used in such cases. The Delhi High Court asked the Center to file an affidavit by incorporating the existing policy of residential allocation, details of previous allocations and the manner of implementation of the rules. September 16, the court criticized the government’s delay in taking decisions, saying that its approach is like a free system for everyone and the allocation cannot be decided selectively. The Center was then asked to submit the current waiting list and policy structure by 18 September.

During today’s proceedings, the Center’s lawyer told the court that the bungalow at 35, Lodhi Estate, proposed by AAP, has been allotted to Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on July 24 this year. This argument was given in response to a question asked by the court about the exact date of allocation. The property was vacated by BSP chief Mayawati in May. On behalf of AAP, senior advocate Rahul Mehra argued that despite being under consideration on the party’s proposal, the bungalow was allotted elsewhere. He said that all previous conditions have been fulfilled. There is a national convenor who is also a national president. We are requesting the accommodation located at the center.
