Official news agency ‘Xinhua’ said that all schools, construction sites and tourist centers in Sanya city have been closed and flights have been suspended at the city airport.
Parts of China’s Hainan Islands caused heavy rains on Friday due to a severe storm and thousands of people were rushed to safe places, schools were closed and flights were canceled. This storm has now moved towards the southern coast of the country.
The Emergency Management Department of Guangdong, the southern province of China, said that on Friday night it was updated into the category of severe tropical storm and it is feared to have “strong winds, rains and waves”.

According to ‘Xinhua’, a dozen members of the crew have been rescued from a cargo vessel trapped due to the storm on Thursday night.
