Hope to get financial assistance to farmers till Dussehra: Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Tuesday that the state government is confident that financial assistance will be transferred to the farmers affected by rain. According to official data, kharif crops have been affected in 19.5 lakh hectares of land in 195 taluka of 654 revenue areas of 30 districts.

Addressing the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pawar said that the authorities have been instructed to conduct a quick survey of the loss of crops in rain affected districts. On this occasion, former Shiv Sena (Ubatha) leader and former MLA Shivajirao Chothe joined the NCP led by Ajit Pawar.

Pawar said, “Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed and Nanded areas recorded heavy rains, while water in some areas of Paithan has still not reduced. The government is standing firmly with the farmers and the district administration of Marathwada has been instructed to survey crop loss. Patron Minister will monitor the survey. ”

He said that the district magistrates of the rain -affected districts have been instructed to send the report of crop damage to the state government soon. He expressed concern over extreme heavy rains in the Marathwada region, saying, “We will directly transfer financial assistance to farmers’ bank accounts. The government is hopeful that this process will be completed by Dussehra (October 2).

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Dattatraya Bharan said that heavy rains in August and September have damaged crops in 17.85 lakh hectares of land in 30 districts of Maharashtra. He said that the work of Panchnama (land assessment) has been completed in some districts and compensation has been distributed.

According to the data, soybean, maize, cotton, pigeonpea, urad, moong, vegetables, fruits, millet, sugarcane, onion, jowar and turmeric have suffered the most. The most affected districts of the most affected districts in August and September include Nanded, where crops were affected in 7.28 lakh hectares and followed by Yavatmal, Washim, Dharashiv, Akola, Solapur and Buldhana.
