Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Chhattisgarh for two days on Sunday to assess the security situation in Bastar affected by Left -wing extremism. On Sunday, Shah will lay the foundation stone of several central institutions in Nawa Raipur and will inaugurate new complexes of National Forensic Sciences and Central Forensic Science Laboratory. On June 23, Shah will visit Narayanpur in South Bastar and meet security personnel and local villagers to review the development initiatives. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, who oversees the Home Department, said that he can also visit a security camp in Bastar. Chief Minister Sai on Friday held a meeting to review the preparations for Shah’s visit, in which he described it as a symbol of new energy and confidence for Chhattisgarh, emphasizing coordinated efforts to deal with extremism and promote inclusive development.

Since the BJP returned to power in November 2023, 427 Maoists including several top cadre have been killed in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has described this proposed visit of Shah as a “symbol of new energy and trust” for Chhattisgarh. Deputy Chief Minister Sharma told reporters that the state government has allocated 40 acres of land for NFSU in Nawa Raipur and will be built by the Center at a cost of about Rs 400 crore. He informed that about six to seven acres of land will be set up on the state forensic lab NFSU.
