The Delhi High Court will consider the petition of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on 25 August, requesting the party’s national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to allot housing in the national capital.
Justice Sachin Dutta postponed the case for a detailed hearing on the petition. In the petition, Kejriwal has been requested to instruct the Center to allot housing.
The petition stated that under the guidelines of allocation of housing allocation from ‘general pool’ to political parties, the president of the recognized National Party is entitled to get a government house in Delhi, provided they have neither a house nor have they been allotted housing in any other official capacity.
On behalf of the party, senior advocate Rahul Mehra said, “All the pre -conditions have been fulfilled. Is a national convenor, who is also a national president. We are requesting to allocate residences located in Delhi. ”
Mehra told the court that ‘AAP’ wrote a letter to the officials for the first time on September 20 last year, after that a memory letter was also sent, but no action was taken. He said that an erstwhile bench had given a place for the party office and the current request is for the residential complex.
The petition said that Kejriwal had vacated his government residence on 6, Flagstaff Road, after stepping out of the post of Chief Minister on October 4. Since then, he has been living in the government residence of a party member near Mandi House.
