According to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, at present an intense cyclonic storm Montha in the Bay of Bengal is situated near the Andhra Pradesh coast. A depression is located in the Gulf of Central Arabian Sea and the circulation system is located over north-eastern Rajasthan and surrounding areas. Due to this, heavy and very heavy rainfall has been recorded at some places in Southern and Eastern Rajasthan in the last 24 hours.

Maximum rainfall of 130 mm has been recorded in Nainwa, Bundi. It remained cloudy in the capital Jaipur for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. Due to this change in the weather, the maximum and minimum temperatures have dropped. According to the weather center, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Udaipur, Kota division and surrounding districts and light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in some parts of Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur and Jodhpur divisions.

Heavy rain activities will increase in the state from October 29, however, light moderate rain activities are likely to continue in the southern and south-eastern parts for the next 4-5 days. Cyclone Montha intensified into a severe cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal on Monday. Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are on high alert, with evacuations underway and preparing for possible landslides near Kakinada tonight. Coming with winds of up to 110 kilometers per hour, the storm has already caused heavy rains and strong winds in the coastal region.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Montha was centered about 190 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam and 340 km south of Visakhapatnam on Monday morning. The storm is expected to cross the coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam by this evening or night.
