Campaign started after Delhi elections

The Punjab government has launched a campaign against drug addiction after the defeat in the Delhi elections. As of 31 March, 2,721 FIRs have been registered, and 4,592 smugglers have been arrested and sent to jail. So far, a bulldozer has been run on the houses of 51 drug traffickers, while 52 smugglers have been injured in the encounter. During this period 166 kg of heroin has been seized. Apart from this, various types of narcotics and drug money are being recovered daily.

Government is now preparing to take this step

A new trend has been seen in the ongoing campaign against the drug by the government. Women have also been found to be involved on a large scale in this business. In many places, women were handling this illegal business after family male members went to jail. The police illegally took action on the houses built by smugglers.

At the same time, the government has constituted a high level committee of five ministers in this matter. Apart from this, preparations have been made to get the census of drug addicts in the budget. At the same time, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria is also going to start a journey against drug addiction. He took charge on 31 July 2024. He has invited people to join the journey.
