Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh attended a meeting of district officials at the Mini Secretariat of Faridkot on Sunday. Faridkot MLA Gurditt Singh Sekhon, Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur and SSP Dr. Pragya Jain were also present in this important meeting.

The Health Minister gave detailed guidelines to the officials and emphasized on making the campaign more effective. The Health Minister said that under the de -addiction campaign, 5 thousand additional beds have been arranged across the state, including 300 additional beds in drug addiction centers in Faridkot district.
Accused of giving political patronage to drug smugglers
Accusing the previous governments of giving political protection to drug addicts, he said that no such exemption will be given in the present government. He also informed that no one now goes to pick up the consignment of drugs coming from Pakistan through drones, which is the result of strict action of the government.

Yoga classes and sports activity in drug centers
New corrective steps are being taken in de -addiction centers. The beginning of skill development course is prominent among them, so that people addicted to drugs can be brought back to the mainstream. Apart from this, yoga classes and sports activities will also be organized for patients admitted in centers. The minister laid special emphasis on regularly conducting these activities.

Emphasis on raising awareness about the ill effects of intoxication
The Health Minister emphasized on raising awareness about the ill effects of intoxication from the school level itself. He said that special awareness programs should be organized in schools to keep the younger generation away from drugs. At the same time, he also paid attention to other public health related issues and directed the authorities to take immediate action to prevent mosquitoes and dirty water diseases.
Cards will be made for free treatment up to 10 lakhs
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that all citizens of the state government’s 10 lakh Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme will be benefited and it will be implemented very soon. A state level helpline number will be issued soon to help the information, treatment and drug addicts of de -addiction centers.
