Harmanpreet’s ‘Abhinandan’ style: Celebrating Women’s World Cup victory, honoring soldiers!

These days, a video of Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur is going viral on social media, in which she is seen taking a sip from a cup before lifting the trophy. There is a discussion among the fans that Harmanpreet adopted this style to pay respect to Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, whose picture drinking tea went viral in Pakistan after the 2019 Balakot airstrike.
Let us tell you that this special act of Harmanpreet came to light after the ICC Women’s World Cup victory, in which the Indian team defeated South Africa and won the title for the first time. It is noteworthy that social media users are now associating this gesture with patriotism and respect for soldiers.
Meanwhile, controversy regarding the trophy continues in the cricket world. Despite recently winning the Men’s Asia Cup, the Indian team has not received the trophy yet. According to available information, after the match, the Indian team had refused to accept the trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, after which it was removed from the stage. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has made it clear that if the trophy is not received soon then this issue will be raised in the ICC meeting on November 4.
On the other hand, the Indian men’s team celebrated this victory in its own way. Captain Suryakumar Yadav celebrated by lifting an imaginary trophy in the style of Rohit Sharma, while Harmanpreet Kaur recreated the famous picture of MS Dhoni’s 2011 World Cup victory at the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
This victory of the women’s team adds a new chapter in the history of Indian cricket. Shafali Verma’s explosive innings of 87 runs and Deepti Sharma’s restrained half-century gave a strong score to India, in response to which the South African team collapsed under pressure and was all out for only 246 runs.
