She was small, when she had to leave home. Parents left the house in the hope of just a suitcase that it was a matter of a few days. But it has been 35 years, he could not return to Kashmir till date. In Kashmir, he had a big house and an infinite open sky. But the family in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru was reduced to a room. Starting with zero, the parents gave good upbringing.
After completing his studies, the first film was stamped by the first film. People refused to give work. During this time, he also thought of quitting broken, acting, but then decided to hold himself. He also got the result of his decision.
In today’s success story, actress Sandeepa Dhar is telling her story…

Was a month old when he had to run away from Kashmir
I am Kashmir Pandit. It was just a month old when my family had to leave Kashmir and flee. My mother was a principal in a school there. After coming from there, my life was spent in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. We had run away from Kashmir, so the focus of my parents was on my studies. He paid great attention to the education of his children so that we do not leave behind in life. I have studied BBM from Xavier. During college, I was doing internship with UTV. After finishing studies, I was going to work with UTV for two-three years. After this I was going to do MBA. I had made a full plan regarding my life. But life and luck were something else.
The entire monologue forgot in Rajshri’s audition
I used to film Ed for Pocketmani during college. I worked in a lot of ads. When I was in the last year of college, Rajshree’s casting director Vicky Sadana called me. He said on the call that Suraj Barjatya is going to launch a boy and girl after ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’, so we want to test you. I had never given any audition for the film. I told the casting director that I have never auditioned the film, so I do not know what to do. He told me that don’t get upset, then he gave me a monologue of an old film of Rajshree. I had to learn him and go for audition.
I am a big fan of Madhuri Dixit and her film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’. I had gone thinking that I would go and see Rajshree’s office. Suraj will meet Barjatya sir because nothing is going to happen in my acting. I remember that I rote the monologue. I forgot the entire monologue in the first tech. I was studying in school because I used to recall everything. It was my plenty of killing Ratta but my condition worsened in front of the camera. I was losing my sweat.

Seeing my condition, the casting director said that you get relaxed. Take the brake and go out and come out and do it again. At that time I was walking in my mind, now, it became a matter of ego and response. Now you have to do it under any circumstances. Well, somehow I auditioned and after that I forgot this.
Rajshree Productions chose me in 600-700 girls
A few weeks later I received a call from Rajshree that he liked my test. Now I have to take another test with Akshay Oberoi, who was a fresh face just like me. 600-700 girls were undergoing tests for that role. I went and went on the test throughout the day with Akshay. We performed two-three scenes together, danced. Our second Test was being held in Rajshree’s auditorium. Suraj sir was watching us from the projection room there. We came to know about this later.
Well, I finished the test and went home and got busy in my normal life. Two weeks later I received a call from a private number. When I picked up the phone, there was a voice from there that Namaste, I am talking to Suraj Barjatya. We liked your test very much and we want you to do our film. You do not need to take the decision right now. You come to the office, listen to the script, if you like it, you will do a film.
I was blank as soon as I hearing the name Suraj Barjatya. To say from above that you will work only when you like the script. Who talks like this with the newcomer. He is a wonderful person. Then I went to Rajshree’s office with my parents. We all met Suraj Sir for the first time. In this way, my first film was ‘this life’.
I was not ready for the film industry at all
After working with Rajshri Production and Suraj Barjatya, I felt that every set in the industry would have done the same. I was not ready for the film industry. I come from non -film background. I knew nothing about this industry. There was no one to guide me. I did not know how to represent myself. There is something like PR team.

Sandipa received a nomination in Filmfare, Star Screen, Stardust Award for debut film ‘Ishi Life Mein’.
The first four-five years left for me to understand this industry. It is very difficult when you are not from the industry. Some doors of the industry are not open to you at all because you are outsiders. Your 5-6 years also go to reach there. There is no one to tell you that what you are doing is right or wrong. I have made my mistakes and learn from them and moved forward. I work with my work. I do not be a part of Bollywood parties.
When the first film flopped, it was considered useless
I entered the film world in 2010 with a well -known production house like Rajshree. My debut film was a flop. After that the challenges increased for me. My role was well appreciated by the critics. I received nomination at different awards for my role. In the recent times, the actor has many streaming avenues but there was nothing like that at that time. You are considered useless when the first film is not run. I had no uncle-mother in the industry, who make a second film for me if the first film is not played.
My struggle was actually. It took me 3-4 years to get out of this flop. I used to think that the film did not work but my work was praised. I should have got work. However, I was wrong. I could not even understand what to do after this. How to get out of it. Then I thought to take the break.

People raised questions, not getting work
It is very important to support parents to work in the entertainment industry. When I worked in the film, my parents also had to answer people’s questions. My parents are told that if the daughter is in the industry, then there will be problems in marriage. However, I started a career with Rajshree, so relatives did not raise much questions. Rajshree’s audience is Family Audience. His films are family.
When the film was not getting work after a flop, he thought of quitting acting many times. She used to ask herself again and again whether my decision to become an actor was correct? It seemed to go back to job or studies. Many times I did not want to do it.
In the first meeting, Salman said there is something in you
There is Rajshri common between me and Salman Khan. He did a cameo in my first film. At the same time, I met him for the first time. He came for dubbing when Suraj sir introduced me and Akshay to him. Till now I had been looking at Salman on screen, when I first saw in front, I was blushing. Suraj sir showed him some of our scenes. I remember very well that Salman saw those scenes and then turned to me and said that there is something in you. My reaction was that when Salman Khan is saying, there will be something necessary. I think I got ‘Dabangg-2’ because of them.

Salman’s ‘Dabangg-2’ and ‘Heropanti’ did a cameo
After the film flopped, I took a break and I moved to Australia. There I studied acting and theater. Played the lead role in a musical show ‘West Side’. After two years of break, I got a chance to work in Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg-2’. Then I also worked in ‘Heropanti’. The role in both these films was small but necessary.
My film ‘Global Baba’ came in 2016. There were all veteran actors in this film. I played the lead role in this film. Apart from me, there were actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, Ravi Kishan, Akhilendra Mishra. I did another film with Pankaj Tripathi Sir, named ‘Paper’. It was produced by Satish Kaushik and Salman Khan was produced.
OTT got a chance to show my skill
In November 2019, I returned to Mumbai from Australia. This was the time when the OTT platform was on its peak. Then came the era of Kovid. I was thinking that how to start again, then I started coming to OTT projects. I am thankful to God that my films did not work, even after that I kept getting small roles. Many well-known director-producers of the industry gave me work in my project, seeing my talent and ability. I got a chance to work with people like Sajid Nadiadwala, Vikram Bhatt. Kovid was the busiest time for me in terms of work.
I did back to back three series like ‘Abhay’, ‘Mam Bhai’ and ‘Bisat’. This year my series ‘Pyaar Ka Professor’ has come on MX Player. This series is getting a lot of love from the audience.

Now my ambition is that I can become such a good actor that people cannot ignore me. I should be so good in my work and craft that they do not matter whether I am StarKid or not. He just liked my craft.
