Gwalior/Bhopal. Union Minister for Communications and North-Eastern Region Development and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia today (Monday) discussed the progress of development works of the district and division in detail and inspected the site of large projects in the review meeting of development projects held at Gwalior Collectorate.
During the meeting, the status of major projects was presented, on which Minister Scindia gave clear instructions to the officials that all works should be completed within the scheduled time limit and with the best quality. In -charge minister, cabinet minister, MP, MLA, mayor, former MLA, district president, district administration, public representatives and contractors were present on the occasion.
Cognizance of projects pending for a long time, time frame for every scheme
In this meeting, Union Minister Scindia fixed the deadline for pending projects. Some projects had been stuck for a long time, due to which the residents had to face inconvenience and trouble, but now the Union Minister took cognizance of all these works and set a clear time for each, giving priority to the convenience of the citizens.
Special emphasis on quality and deadline
Scindia said that the Gwalior region is the center of historical and cultural heritage and there are immense potential for development here. In such a situation, there is a demand of the hour to speed up projects related to infrastructure, education, health, drinking water, hygiene and public facilities. He also instructed the officials not to compromise on the quality of work, so that Gwalior could be established as an ideal district in the coming years.
Discussion on these major 11 projects in the meeting:
1. The deadline for both the phase of Gwalior Elevated Road was fixed. Phase-1 (₹ 446.92 crore) will be completed by 1 October 2027 and Phase-2 (₹ 926.21 crore) will be completed by 19 November 2027. This project will facilitate the city’s traffic system.
2. Renewal work of ₹ 534.70 crore of Gwalior railway station will be completed by April 2026. This will include new platforms and modern passenger features, as well as the station will be equipped with Gwalior’s legacy.
3. Land acquisition work of Agra-Gwalior Expressway costing ₹ 4613 crore has started. The project will accelerate industrial and commercial development.
4. There was a detailed discussion on Gwalior-Chambal Raw Water Supply System. A roadmap was prepared in it, which will meet the city’s drinking water requirements by 2055. All 66 wards of the entire city will benefit from this and regular clean water supply will be ensured to each house in the city. In this direction, the pipeline, overhead tank and distribution system were considered more effective and it was targeted to complete it by March 2027.
5. The progress of Phase-1 and Phase-2 of Gwalior Water Distribution Scheme costing ₹ ₹ ₹ 1900 crore was reviewed. With this scheme, regular and clean water will be able to reach every house in rural areas.
6. Instructions were given to complete the Gwalior Western bypass costing ₹ 1347.6 crore within the stipulated time. This will reduce traffic pressure.
7. The target was to complete the much awaited multi -awaited multilevel car parking by March 2026 at a cost of ₹ 82 crore. This will now provide relief from traffic in the historic Maharaj Bada of Gwalior and this facility with 352 cars and 76 two-wheeler parking capacity will provide relief to the citizens from the problem of traffic and will facilitate traffic.
8. Renewal of the Government Press Building at Maharaja Bada and a detailed review of the Industrial Museum (₹ 16 crore). The project will give a new height to the cultural and industrial identity of Gwalior.
9. Instructions were given to complete the work of underbridge being constructed between 1000 bed super specialty hospitals and JAH at a cost of 20 crores before March 2027.
10. Out of 4 entry gates in Gwalior city, Tansen Gate, Jayavilas Gate and Sahastrabhau Temple Gate have been completed and dedicated to the public. Currently, the target of completing the work of Gwalior Fort Gate under construction on the remaining one Bhind Road was set to be completed by 31 October 2025. All these gates will be a symbol of Gwalior’s dignity and reception tradition.
11. The work of the first face has been completed in Ambedkar Dham, being built at Zoradi at Dabra at a cost of Rs 30 crore and the work of the second face is going on fast, in which it was decided that the statue of Baba Saheb will be installed outside the memorial premises so that every visitor can first salute them. It was decided to increase the height of the statue from 12 feet to 20 feet. The museum will be constructed in the memorial, whose chambers will be in the name of Panchatirtha sites and a management committee will be set up for its maintenance. The project was targeted to be completed before December 2026.
Review on law and order and road conditions also
Apart from this, instructions were given to strengthen the law and order of Gwalior in the meeting. The Union Minister reprimanded the contractors and officials on the poor condition of the roads. He himself selected 255 water blockage points and classified them into three categories, green (right), yellow and red (repaible), so that the problem could be resolved quickly. The meeting also discussed the capacity of ISBT bus stand with capacity of 55 buses capacity. Along with this, Gajra Raja Medical College and sewage related issues were also discussed in detail.
Call to reach the benefits of schemes to people
Scindia told the officials that development work should change the lives of the public rather than just on paper. He emphasized on making public participation and transparency the original mantra of working style. In the meeting, the Union Minister, the Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for Elevated Road, Agra Expressway and Western bypass, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for renewal of Gwalior railway station, Housing and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for Water Supply Projects and Dr. Mohan Yadav for Ambedkar Dham expressed gratitude and gratitude. The Union Minister expressed confidence that the joint efforts of the Central and State Government would emerge more rich, strong and modern forms in the coming times to come to Gwalior.
