Gurdaspur: A soldier on leave died in a road accident, the family is in dire straits

In a road accident in Gurdaspur, a soldier who came home on leave was seriously injured and died during treatment. The deceased has been cremated with full military honors in his native village. While going to the market, the scooter of the soldier collided with the signboard on the road.

The deceased has been identified as Lakhwinder Singh (28), son of Sarup Singh, a resident of village Bhagokawan. The deceased's father is also retired from the army. The family of the deceased was talking about his marriage but he died before the marriage took place. The family is in a bad situation.

Saroop Singh, the father of the deceased, said that Lakhwinder had joined the 15 Punjab Regiment of the army about five years ago. He was currently posted in Srinagar, where he was to return to his platoon after completing two years.

Meanwhile, he came home on February 22 after taking a few days leave. On the same day in the evening, he went to the market on his scooter for some work. After some time it was found at home that he had an accident.

It has been learned that Lakhwinder's scooter collided with the signboard on the road. The seriously injured Lakhwinder was admitted to Civil Hospital Gurdaspur but was referred to Amritsar due to his critical condition. Where he died on February 23 during treatment.
