Supreme Court has given bail till 31 March
Asaram Bapu was convicted by the Sessions Court in 2023 in the 2013 rape case and is serving a life sentence. He filed a petition in the High Court for six months of temporary bail. In this, his lawyer argued that according to the opinion of doctors, he needs a 90 -day Panchakarma medical session.
It is noteworthy that in January this year, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail on medical grounds till 31 March. The Supreme Court had said in the order that an application could be filed in the concerned High Court to increase it, so Asaram had sought more bail from the High Court for 6 months.
Asaram was sentenced in 2023

On 31 January 2023, a sessions court found Asaram Bapu guilty of raping his female disciple several times in his Ahmedabad ashram. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, convicting him. He was convicted under Section 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offenses), section 342 (incorrectly imprisonment), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 357 (attack or criminal force) and 354 (an attack or criminal force) in an attempt to imprison a person) and 357 (an attack or criminal force).
Asaram’s son also in jail

Narayan Sai has been lodged in Surat in Lajpor Jail since 2013.
The victim’s sister had also filed a rape case against Asaram’s son Narayan Sai. In 2019, Narayan Sai was also found guilty and the court sentenced him to life imprisonment. This case is also of the year 2013. Narayan Sai is lodged in Lajpor Jail in Surat.
