Government does not talk about matters of religion, Foreign Ministry cleaned the Dalai Lama succession dispute

In response to the recent comments made by the Dalai Lama about the future of the Dalai Lama institution, India has said that it does not take any stand on matters related to religious faith or practice. Foreign Ministry (MEA) spokesman Randhir Jaiswal while answering media questions on the subject said that we have seen reports related to the statement made by the Holiness Dalai Lama about the continuity of the Dalai Lama institution. He clarified that the Government of India does not involve such religious matters, and he confirmed his long -term stance.

Jaiswal said that the Government of India does not take any stand on matters related to the beliefs and practices of faith and religion. Reiterating India’s constitutional commitment, he said that the government has always upheld the freedom of religion for all in India and will continue to do so.

China objected to the remarks of Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju that the Dalai Lama should choose the successor as per his wish. China called upon India to carefully work on issues related to Tibet, so that it does not affect the improvement in bilateral relations. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning while answering a question asked about Reiju’s comments said in a press conference here that India should be clear towards the 14th Dalai Lama’s anti -China separatist nature and should respect its commitments on issues related to ‘Shijang’ (Tibet). China mentions Tibet as ‘Shijang’.
