Central Government to link Aadhaar with Permanent Account Number (PAN) Deadline extended to six months Has given. Earlier this deadline was ending on September 30, 2021 but now it has been extended to March 31, 2022. This information has been given by the Ministry of Finance.
The deadline for completion of penalty proceedings under the Income Tax Act has also been extended from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022. The CBDT has issued a notification in this regard on Friday (September 17). It may be recalled that the Government has introduced a new section 234H (23H) in the Income Tax Act, 1961 in the Finance Bill 2021 passed by the Lok Sabha on 23rd March, 2021. Under this, provision has been made for penalty. Under the new rules, if a person does not link the PAN to the base within the stipulated time frame, his PAN can be deactivated. In addition, he could be fined.
