When and how was it built?
The construction of Taj Mahal started in 1632. It took about 21 years, and was completed in 1653. About 20,000 skilled artisans and workers from India and Central Asia worked on the project. They used white marble from Makrana (Rajasthan) and precious stones from Asia. They combined Persian, Indian and Islamic architecture to create a masterpiece.
