GD Naidu Biopic | R Madhavan is bringing the unheard story of ‘Edison of India’ GD Naidu in ‘GDN’

Actor R Madhavan has once again created a stir on social media, this time with an alluring glimpse from the sets of his much-awaited biopic “GD Naidu”. The “Rocketry” star posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the shoot on Instagram that has fans going crazy over his clean-shaven, classic look.

R Madhavan has released the first look of his role as inventor Gopalaswamy Doraiswami Naidu aka GD Naidu, often referred to as the ‘Edison of India’, in the upcoming biopic ‘GDN’. The teaser shows Madhavan in his character, working in a shady workshop, and then his face emerges, revealing Naidu’s distinctive look. The film aims to showcase the vital role of this visionary inventor in shaping Indian technology.

The teaser begins with Madhavan as Naidu welding in a dimly lit place, with his face hidden behind a protective mask. As the mask is removed, the camera focuses on his aged face, which is further accentuated by round glasses, establishing a striking resemblance to the inventor.

Madhavan stressed the importance of the story, saying, “The soul of G.D. Naidu is now officially revealed. A story of unmatched vision, huge ambition and unwavering determination. We are proud that ‘G.D.N.’ The first look teaser has been released.

Directed by Krishnakumar Ramkumar and produced by Varghese Mulan Pictures and Tricolor Films, the project brings Naidu’s journey to a wider audience. Naidu, a self-taught innovator from Coimbatore, was responsible for many inventions, from electric motors to agricultural implements.

Fans have appreciated Madhavan’s dedication, and the clean shaven look makes him almost unrecognizable. Sharing his experience on the set, Madhavan said, “Another day, another look. Life goes on on the set. I am extremely lucky and grateful to have had the most extraordinary cast, crew and amazing producers.” #GDN.”

Naidu’s contributions to Indian industry include the creation of India’s first indigenous electric motor, petrol engines, ticket machines and several agricultural innovations. The film intends to highlight these achievements and Naidu’s lasting impact.

Starring Priyamani, Jayaram and Yogi Babu in important roles. The music of the film has been composed by Govind Vasantha.

Apart from his work in ‘GDN’, Madhavan will also be seen in ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ alongside Ajay Devgan and Rakul Preet Singh. ‘GDN’ is produced by Varghese Moolan and Vijay Moolan of Varghese Moolan Pictures, and R Madhavan and Saritha Madhavan of Tricolor Films. Aravind Kamalanathan is the cinematographer and creative producer, while Muralitharan is the executive producer.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters worldwide in summer 2026.
