Now school children will be able to read in their books about India’s military power, its increasing strength in space and efforts to protect the environment. According to sources in the Ministry of Education, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will soon include ‘Operation Sindoor’, ‘Mission Life’ and India’s big space missions like Chandrayaan, Aditya L1 as well as Indian Air Force pilot Shubhanshu Shukla’s International Space Station Mission.
A new course will come in two parts
This new course is being prepared in two different parts (modules): first for students from class 3 to 8 and second for students from class 9 to 12. Each module will be about eight to ten pages. In these, special stages of India’s military and strategic journey will be told. It will emphasize how ‘Operation Sindoor’ was carried out in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
A senior ministry official said, “It is aimed at the role of India’s military strength, major steps taken for the security of the country and the role in national security between defense, diplomacy and different ministries.” Although the special strategic information related to ‘Operation Sindoor’ will be kept confidential, it will be used as a special case study to show India’s strategic power.

Partition and increasing power in space
Sources also stated that there will be a module in the syllabus on the magnitude of India-Pakistan partition. This will give information to students about the painful history of India’s independence and how the country faced challenges in the later years.
These modules will also show the rise in India as a global space power. It will mention historical missions like Chandrayaan and Aditya El1. Also, Indian Air Force pilot Shubhanshu Shukla’s recent arrival at the international space station (Axiom Mission 4) will also be included. The purpose of this course is to instill curiosity among students about science and motivate them.
Environmental protection is also part of the course
Apart from military and space achievements, these modules will also have information on ‘Mission Life’. It is a special program of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Students will be told about the importance of this mission in fighting climate change and saving the environment.
The official said, “The aim of these modules is to present a complete view of India’s progress in all areas from defense to diplomacy, from sustainable development to space search.” The Ministry of Education has not yet given any specific date to launch these modules, but it is expected that they will be implemented in schools as soon as they are ready.

Support received from Haryana and Uttarakhand
Haryana Minister Anil Vij has described it as a ‘very good effort’ on the inclusion of ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the textbooks by NCERT. He said, ‘Our heroic stories, how we gave a tough competition to Pakistan through’ Operation Sindoor ‘, how we destroyed terrorist bases, all this should be taught to children from the beginning, and this is a very good effort.’
At the same time, the move has also welcomed the move by Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, Chairman of Uttarakhand Madrasa Board. He said, ‘Just after Operation Sindoor, we had said that we will make people aware of the work done by our soldiers. Just as the opposition hinders everything, it is not a matter of ruling party or opposition at this time; We Indians should stand together. These things have nothing to do with religion. It should be included in NCERT books and taught in all universities and colleges.
