Earlier they have been meeting on various multilateral forums from their Chinese counterparts, but this tour is an important step towards restoration of bilateral relations.
Faith, respect and sensitivity
Earlier, during the BRICS meeting, PM Modi had clarified that India -China relations should be carried forward on the basis of three ‘books’ -Person’s trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity, so that this relationship can return in a positive direction and become durable. Trying to normalize relationships

The bilateral meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Chinfing during the BRICS conference in Kazan, Russia in October 2023 accelerated the process. The meeting was held at the delegation level for the first time in five years.
