Three teenagers and a woman died after drowning in the pond during ‘Karma Puja’ in Nawada district of Bihar on Wednesday. Police gave this information. The incident took place in Datraula village of Pakaribarawan police station area. The dead include Panchayat Samiti members Krishna Paswan’s daughters Anamika Kumari (12) and Pooja Kumari (18).
Police said that Jyoti Devi, the 28 -year -old wife of Shambhu Paswan of the same family, and her daughter Khushboo Kumari (11) also lost their lives and while Rajendra Paswan’s daughter Priyanka Kumari has been referred to Nawada for treatment.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Nishu Malik told ‘PTI-language’ that the accident took place during a bath in the pond for worship. He said, “All were drowned in water due to not being able to guess the depth.As soon as the incident was reported, the local police and district administration team reached the spot and started the rescue operation with the help of divers. After some time all the bodies were taken out and sent for post -mortem. ”
As soon as the news of the accident was received, weeds were mourned in the entire village. Family members are in a bad state. The district administration said that all further legal and administrative formalities are being completed.‘Karma Puja’ is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Jharkhand, Bihar and surrounding states. It is considered a symbol of fertility, prosperity and the sacred relationship between siblings.
