Former Pakistan bowler won Team India’s victory, accused of dishonesty

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed accused India of ball tampering in the fifth and final Test match of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy played against England. Ahmed urged the ICC umpires to send the ball used by India for ‘lab testing’ on the fourth and fifth day of the final match of the series. This reaction of Ahmed came after India to register its closest win by six runs and equalize the five-match series 2–2.

On the fifth day of the fifth Test of India vs England, Mohammad Siraj swing the ball about 80 over old balls on both sides. The famous Krishna also did the same. Perhaps Siraj is not as much as, but he also turned the ball fast. So much that Indian captain Shubman Gill did not even think of taking the second new ball, even when India needed England’s last three wickets and less than 30 runs were left. And it benefited a lot.

However, former Pakistan fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed was not ready to appreciate the skills of the Indian fast bowlers. Instead, she accused them of using ‘Vaseline’ to maintain the glow of the ball, even though it has become old. This former thin-handed medium-handed medium-speed bowler, who played 10 Tests and 3 ODIs for Pakistan, completely ignored the pitch, cloud-surrounded circumstances and above, Siraj and Krishna’s art completely ignored. He wrote on X I think India used Vaseline. Even after 80+ over, the ball is shining like new. The umpire should send this ball to the lab for examination.

This was not the first time a former Pakistani fast bowler has accused India of tampering with the ball’s position. During the 2023 ODI World Cup, when Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj had swinging the new ball more than any other new bowler in the tournament, former Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza said that ICC is giving a “separate ball” to India.
