The CBI has taken former Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, who was arrested in a bribery case, on five-day remand. The Chandigarh CBI court gave this approval during the hearing on Saturday. The CBI had filed an application for the remand of the former DIG on Friday.
Bhullar’s lawyers HS Dhanoha and RPS Bara opposed it. However, the CBI argued that they needed to collect more evidence.
Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, the Vigilance Department also filed a petition in the Mohali court, seeking a production warrant for Bhullar in the case of assets in excess of income. The Vigilance Department argued that Bhullar was not cooperating with the investigation, hence the need for remand. The petition was heard in court.
During this hearing, the CBI lawyer said that the vigilance department has filed a case only in the case of assets in excess of income. What is the remand for property investigation, they can come to the jail and inquire whenever they want. The court sought a detailed response on November 3. The vigilance department registered a case on October 29.
