Former Australian captain Ian Chappell announced his retirement from cricket commentary


Former Australian captain Ian Chappell has announced his retirement from cricket commentary. Along with this, Diggs said goodbye to his wonderful commentary career of 45 years. The 78-year-old former Australia captain Chappell is known globally for his intelligent views on the game and his straightforward way of delivering them. Chappell was part of the Australian cricket broadcasting team for more than three decades with Richie Benaud, Bill Lawrie and Tony Greig.

Chappell said, “I remember the day I knew I had enough time to play cricket, but I decided to say goodbye to cricket at that point, then after that I went into the commentary box. I recently heard about the retirement of the legendary rugby league commentator Ray Warren, after which the idea came to mind.
