Five jawans were martyred in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, 4 jawans from Punjab

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch area, terrorists ambushed a vehicle carrying Indian Army soldiers, in which five Army soldiers were martyred while another soldier was seriously injured.

The injured jawan was immediately rushed to the Army Hospital in Rajouri. The attack took place when the army vehicle was going to Sangiot from Bhimbar Gali in Poonch district.

Four of the five martyred soldiers of the National Rifles were from Punjab. The martyred jawans include Mandeep Singh, Sevak Singh, Harkrishna Singh, Kulwant Singh and Debashish Baswal. According to the information received from the headquarters of the Northern Command, an Indian Army vehicle which was going from Bhimbar Gali in Poonch district to Sangiot was attacked by unidentified terrorists after which the vehicle caught fire.

The terrorists took advantage of the heavy rain that was falling on that occasion to carry out this incident as the visibility was not clear from afar due to the rain. He said that grenades may have been thrown on the vehicle by the terrorists.

He said that the five jawans who were martyred in the attack belong to the Rashtriya Rifles Unit and they are going to conduct a campaign against terrorists in the area. He said that efforts are being made to nab the attackers and more information is being gathered regarding the attack.
