Afghan Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has claimed that Afghan forces in retaliation killed 58 Pakistani soldiers and injured more than 30. Along with this, he also told that a large quantity of Pakistani weapons have come into the possession of Afghan forces.
Let us tell you that Mujahid also admitted that nine Taliban soldiers were killed and about a dozen were injured in this clash. According to available information, Afghanistan has said that this action was taken in response to repeated border violations and air strikes by Pakistan. At the same time, Pakistan has not yet given any official response to these claims of Afghan Taliban.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan’s government media on the contrary claimed that its army had captured 19 Afghan posts and many Taliban fighters were either killed or fled. Pakistan Television (PTV) has also released some videos, in which Afghan posts are seen burning in fire. Radio Pakistan reported that the Pakistani Army destroyed several Taliban hideouts like Manojba Camp, Jandusar Post and Kharchar Fort with “precise aim”.
Let us tell you that Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mosin Naqvi described the Afghan attacks as “an action taken without provocation” and alleged that Afghan forces fired on civilian areas. He said that “Pakistan Army has responded promptly and effectively, and any provocation will not be tolerated.”
According to current information, this latest conflict took place when the Taliban had blamed Pakistan for the air attack in Kabul a few days ago. Although Islamabad did not claim responsibility for the attack, it accused the Afghan Taliban of harboring Pakistani Taliban fighters, who are supported by India. India has completely rejected this allegation.
Let us tell you that Iran, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have expressed concern over these incidents and have appealed to both the countries to exercise restraint. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that stability between Afghanistan and Pakistan is important for the entire region. Qatar and Saudi Arabia have also urged both sides to reduce tensions through dialogue and diplomacy.
Overall, according to available information, the Afghan-Pakistan border, which has already been sensitive, is now becoming a major threat to the security of South Asia.
