Farmers protest over delay in paddy procurement, besiege the houses of Cabinet Ministers Pargat Singh and Sangat Singh Giljian – Daily Post Punjabi


Jalandhar / Tanda: On one hand the farmers are already struggling to get the agriculture laws repealed and now on the other hand the 10 days delay in the procurement of paddy by the Center has added to the worries of the farmers and today the United Kisan Morcha The house of Congress and BJP MLAs has been cordoned off.

Farmers are staging dharnas at various places in Punjab. A dharna led by Doaba Kisan Committee Punjab President Jangveer Singh Rasoolpur led by MLA Sangat Singh Giljian from Tanda has started outside the residence of Cabinet Minister Punjab today. On this occasion Mr. Jangveer Singh Rasoolpur said that the dharna would continue till the procurement of paddy started. He said that Congress party was making political drama inside Punjab to stop its activities and resolve the issues of farmers and start procurement of paddy.

Strict action will be taken

Similarly, Pargat Singh’s house at Jalandhar was also besieged. A large number of farmers are moving towards Pargat Singh’s house. A large police force is deployed outside Pargat Singh’s residence. Police have barricaded the minister’s house.

On Saturday, members of Bhartiya Kisan Union Rajewal took a stand against the Punjab government for delay in procurement of paddy by the Union government. They staged a dharna at the residence of Jalandhar Cantonment MLA and Sports and Education Minister Pargat Singh on 120 feet road here. They are constantly chanting slogans against the Center and the state government. Besides, Pargat Singh has attended a meeting of the education department. Despite this, angry protesters are chanting slogans.
