Farmers Protest candle march


Farmers have announced to take out 'Candle March' today (February 24, Saturday) to protest against the government. Farmer leaders said they will decide on the next step for their 'Delhi Chalo' movement on February 29. He announced that he will blow up the center's effigy on Monday, two days after the 'Candle March' on Saturday.

The joint Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) took this decision on Friday evening. The two organizations are spearheading the farmers' movement for various demands, including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops. On their invitation, a large number of farmers have camped on the Shambhu and Khanuri border of Haryana and Punjab. MM leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said at Khanuri border, 'The next step under the movement will be announced on February 29.' He announced that he will take out 'candle march' today on February 24 and blow the effigy of the center on February 26. Farmer leaders on Wednesday called off the 'Delhi Chalo' movement for two days after a protester was killed and around 12 police personnel were injured in a clash in Khanuri. Thousands of farmers are camping along the Khanuri and Shambhu border with tractor-trolleys and trucks with their various demands including legal guarantee of minimum support price for crops and farm loan waiver. Implementation of Punjab Kisan Swaminathan Commission recommendations, pension for farmers-farm workers, no hike in electricity tariffs, withdrawal of cases registered by police, 'justice' for victims of Lakhimpur Khedi violence of 2021, reinstatement of Land Acquisition Act are also demanding to do Compensation to families of farmers killed during agitation of 2013 and 2020-21.
