In 2011, a case of misuse of government funds came to light during the birth centenary celebrations of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh in Nawanshahr. In which the then Divisional Commissioner Swaran SinghVikas Mehra, owner of JS Enterprises, Faridabad, Sanjay, resident of Faridabad and Satveer Singh Bajwa, resident of Chandigarh were nominated. Udit Narayan appeared in the court of District and Sessions Judge Rupinderjit Chahal in Jalandhar to testify in the case.
Senior Advocate Sanjeev Bansal said that Udit Narayan had testified in the case. Udit Narayan told the court that Rs one lakh had been fixed for his summons. A check for the same amount was also given to him. In addition, his team was given Rs 12 lakh. He confirmed this fact before the court. The case was registered on the complaint of Surjit Singh Grewal, then SSP, Vigilance Bureau.
Advocate Sanjeev Bansal said that Swaran Singh had misused government funds by taking advantage of his position at the function. About Rs 3 crore 15 lakh was misused in this government function. After which a case was registered against all of them. For this gathering, Swaran Singh had invited other actors to make their mark in Bollywood. They were given less money but were deceived by showing more than the papers. The testimony of other singers and artists in this case will be recorded in the coming days. The next hearing in the case is set for September 29.
