The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that India is in close contact with British authorities to resolve the concerns raised by two families over the alleged misrepresentation of the indigenous remains brought to Ahmedabad after the deadly accident of AI171. Responding to media questions, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that we have seen the report and since these concerns and issues have been brought to our attention, we are working together with the British side. After this tragic accident, the concerned authorities identified the victims according to the established protocol and technical needs. All body remains were handled in a very professional manner and taking full care of the dignity of the dead.

Heli said the DNA test has shown that the remains sent to their clients do not match their deceased relatives. According to him, 12 to 13 sets of human remains were sent back to Britain after the accident. At least two of them were found to have DNA discrepancies.

Air India flight numbers AI171, Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Ahmedabad left for London at around 1:30 pm on June 12. A few moments after flying, the aircraft collided with the residential complex of Bij Medical College located in Meghaninagar area of the city, causing a horrific fire. Only one of the 242 passengers and members of the crew survived. British officials are allegedly reviewing the findings raised by the families, while Indian officials continue to cooperate in the matter.
