The SIT has arrested the complainant who accused many murders, rapes and burials in the city of temples in Karnataka. This information was received when the Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief Pranab Mohanty questioned the complainant and found discrepancies in his statements and documents. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar has appreciated the development and said that action should be taken against those responsible. He said that I was confident from the beginning. Even religious leaders have welcomed the investigation… Action should be taken against those who have done wrong. I am not in favor of any one; I am in favor of justice and religion. There should not be politics in religion.

What is the whole matter
The dispute began when an informer, who claimed to work in the Dharmasthal between 1995 and 2014. He alleged that he was forced to bury or cremate the bodies of women and minors, many of which had sexual harassment marks. He identified 15 potential sites where these bodies were reportedly placed hideout. The authorities then started investigating the case and the sites were inspected. The state government formed a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the case, which eventually excavated at several places to find out if there are human remains.

BJP accused of conspiracy
The BJP has criticized the Karnataka government for the way of dealing with the Dharmasthal issue and alleged that a conspiracy is being hatched to hurt the feelings of millions of devotees by defaming the temple city. The head of the saffron party’s state unit, B.Y. Vijayendra said that from Friday, he will start a statewide movement called ‘Dharma War’, which will continue in all assembly constituencies by next week. Addressing the media, Vijayendra said that the social media campaign against the Dharmasthal has “hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees.
