A day after the new nuclear threat to India by Pakistani Army Chief General Aseem Munir, former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday made another threat of war against India. Speaking at a function organized by the Sindh government’s Culture Department on Monday, Bhutto claimed that India had attacked Pakistan and accused India of “barbarism” on the issue. He told supporters that “every Pakistani war is ready to fight” and claimed that Pakistan’s armed forces have given India a “historic reply”.

The Express Tribune quoted Bilawal as saying, “If Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces an attack on Sindhu, he attacks our history, our culture and our civilization.” India suspended the 1960 agreement after the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam on 22 April, in which 26 people were killed.

Interestingly, Bilawal’s remarks came just one day after the Pakistani Army Chief issued a warning to India. He allegedly threatened that if Pakistan “drowned, he would take half the world with him”. The comment was reportedly made during a meeting with American military officials in Tempa, Florida.

Bilawal accused Modi of using the proposed water project on the Indus River as a warning that Pakistan’s water supply could be disrupted. He said that he had raised the issue abroad to highlight India’s “aggressive water policy”, and claimed that it had avenged the shock to India in a military clash in May.

He further stated that “The people of Sindh have always felt in danger to protect the Indus River … The people of Pakistan have the strength to face Modi in the event of war.” He said that in another war, Pakistan “can regain all its six rivers.”

New Delhi strongly condemned and described Pakistan’s nuclear threats as “simple trade” and questioned Pakistan’s nuclear command and the integrity of control. Indian officials said the Pakistani army works closely with terrorist groups, making the region’s nuclear stability dangerously unstable.

The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) said, “India will not bow down to nuclear blackmail and will continue to take all necessary steps to protect national security.” On several occasions, Bhutto has convicted India for the recent tension in the region after the April 22 terrorist attack and has also threatened India to postpone the Indus Water Treaty.

Following the Pahalgam attack, the level of diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan collapsed and New Delhi announced several punitive measures, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty, cuts in the number of Islamabad Missions and expecting its military attachment.

India and Pakistan lasted across the border for four days, when India launched Operation Sindoor against terrorist camps in the neighboring country. New Delhi attacked several air conditions and shocked the abilities of the Islamabad army, as well as missile and drone attacks effectively.
