Many European leaders including Germany, France and Britain are coming to Washington to meet US President Donald Trump along with Ukraine President Volodimir Jailnsky. This step has been taken at a time when Trump is pressurizing Ukraine to make a peace agreement with Russia soon.
Trying to strengthen the condition of Jailonsky

What happened between Trump and Putin?
President Trump is pressurizing Ukraine for an agreement after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday. According to sources, the US and Russian leaders discussed some proposals. These included Russia to capture Russia in some small parts in exchange for leaving a large part of Eastern Ukraine.
However, some of Putin demands will be extremely difficult to accept for Ukraine. This will create a potential for a potentially stressful dialogue to end the most severe war in the last 80 years in Europe. So far more than one million people have been killed or injured in this war.

European colleagues want to avoid disappointing situation like the Oval Office meeting held in February this time. The last time Trump and Vice President JD Vance publicly reprimanded the Ukrainian leader. The German government said in a statement that the meeting would discuss’ continuous support in protecting Ukraine ‘against security guarantee, regional issues and Russian invasion’.
Trying for triple meeting
European powers want to help hold a tripartite meeting between Trump, Putin and Jailonski. They want to ensure that Ukraine finds a place on the conversation table to shape its future. In addition, they also want the ability to increase the pressure on Moscow if needed for Ukraine along with US participation.
A European official said, “They will clarify what they believe in the context of safety guarantee: what they can do themselves, what is the responsibility on the alliance of volunteers, and what expectations they expect from the United States.” He said that he expects a ‘a very strong commitment’ from the US.
