An encounter between Mohali police and gangsters has taken place in Zirakpur. The police received a tip-off that three gangsters were hiding in a hotel in Baltana area of Zirakpur. Two gangsters were shot in the legs in the firing from both sides. While, many police officers and employees have also been injured. The gangsters have been admitted to Mohali’s Phase 6 Hospital for treatment. All the three accused were involved in the murder of businessman Harjinder Singh Johal alias Mela in Bathinda on Saturday. The entire encounter has been caught on CCTV.
DSP Pawan Kumar has been injured in the encounter. He was shot in the leg. has also been taken to the hospital for treatment. Along with this, there is news of many other policemen also being hit by bullets. The exact number of injured police personnel is yet to be estimated.
The accused are related to Arsh Dalla gang
Mohali SP rural Manpreet Singh said that the arrested gangsters belong to the Arsh Dalla gang. They have been identified as Lovejit, Kamaljit and Paramjit. Two weapons of .32 and .30 bore have been recovered from their possession.
Bullets were rained on Johal
It is worth mentioning that Harjinder Singh Johal alias Mela, the owner of the famous Harman Restaurant located on Mall Road in Bathinda, was shot dead in broad daylight last Saturday. Two miscreants on a bike shot him 5 times. Harjinder Singh Johal was sitting on a chair outside his restaurant on Mall Road when the shooting took place.
After shooting, both miscreants escaped on a bike. Johal was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where he died. Johal was the president of Mall Road Market Association of Bathinda.
