In July 2021, the government announced a rebate of Rs 2.5 lakh (subsidy of Rs 1.5 lakh and early bird incentive of Rs 1 lakh) on the purchase of EVs. Now people can take advantage of this till March 31, 2022.
of Autocar India Report The Maharashtra government’s scheme is currently applicable in only two models, which include the Tata Nexon EV and the Tata Tigor EV electric car, it said. The reason behind this is the battery pack present in them. This subsidy from the government is only for those models, whose battery capacity is 30kWh or less. Let us tell you, the battery pack of 30.2KWh capacity is available in Nexon electric car and 26kWh capacity in Tigor electric car.
These subsidized electric four wheelers will also get exemption from tax and registration fee. However, Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV have been kept out of this early bird benefits offer as they are not covered under the FAME II policy of the central government. As per this policy, the value of the car should be less than Rs.15 lakhs.
The Tata Nexon EV car has been introduced in XM, XZ + and XZ + Lux variants. The ex-showroom price of XM is Rs 13.99, XZ+ is priced at Rs 15.39 lakh and XZ+ Lux is priced at Rs 16.39 lakh.
At the same time, the Tata Tigor EV’s ex-showroom price in India starts at Rs 11.99 lakh, which is the price of the base XE trim. The XM trim is priced at Rs 12.49 lakh ex-showroom. While the XZ+ trim is priced at Rs 12.99 lakh ex-showroom. Customers who are willing to buy the car in dual-tone color option will be available for purchase in the XZ+ Dual Tone variant at 13.14 ex-showroom rate.
