The by -election is going to be announced soon in Ludhiana. Earlier today, the Election Commission has issued instructions. Prior to the by -election of Ludhiana West Assembly Light, the process of special brief amendment of the photo voter list is going on.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C said that according to the draft, the total number of voters in the 64-Ludhiana west is 1 lakh 73 thousand 71. Claims and objections can be filed by 24 April 2025. The final publication of the voter list was scheduled on 5 May 2025.

He said that after the reasoning and permission of the Election Commission, the total number of polling stations in light is 192, which are in all urban areas. However, arrangements have been made to ensure that the counting of voters at any polling station is not more than 1,200, so that access and convenience can be increased.

Appointment of booth level agents

Sibin C has a meeting with representatives of already recognized political parties from time to time. It is noteworthy that some political parties have already appointed their booth level agents (BLAs) and other parties are being encouraged by the Chief Election Officer to follow this to ensure transparent election participation.

Sibin C has appealed to all political parties to actively contribute to the amendment process through booth level agents (BLAs) to help voters in the process of creating awareness about updating voters and registration of claims, objections.

You can appeal within 15 days

In addition, the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab also insisted that the Magistrate (DEO) can appeal under section 22 or 23 within 15 days of issuing orders related to voters, claims and objections.

Similarly, if someone’s name is inadvertently, then an appeal can be made to include it and if needed, this appeal can also be taken to the Chief Election Officer, as determined according to the representation laws/rules.
