Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reached Bhuj in Gujarat on Wednesday before celebrating Dussehra festival with Indian Army personnel at Bhuj military base on 2 October. Along with celebrating Dussehra, Rajnath Singh will also perform arms worship at Bhuj military base on Thursday. The Defense Minister was welcomed by Army Chief (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi at Bhuj Air Force Station. Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is one of the most important Hindu festivals in India and will be celebrated on 2 October this year.

It symbolizes the victory of good over evil and is celebrated in various ways across the country. It remembers the victory over Lord Rama’s demon king Ravana, which symbolizes the ego and the victory of truth and religion over evil. This festival also inspires people to conquer internal evils like anger, greed, pride and jealousy and to maintain the values of truth, virtue and religion.
Earlier, in the day, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh appreciated the Defense Accounts (DAD) for ensuring financial flexibility during Operation Sindoor, adaptation of resources and maintaining operational readiness and described it as “silent but important” spine of India’s armed forces. Singh, while addressing the department’s 278th Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi, said, “While the whole world saw the bravery and courage of the armed forces in achieving historical and decisive victory during Operation Sindoor, the silence of DAD but the important role ensured efficient resource use, financial management and war preparation.”
He described the DAD as an organization that not only ensures financial discretion and transparency, but also strengthens the operations by ensuring timely availability of resources.
